Adaptive Training
(Special Needs)
Classes We Offer
Adaptive Martial Arts
Our Adaptive Martial Arts classes, while they focus on physical development, also place an emphasis on mental discipline as they learn martial arts techniques, drills, and patterns. While learning the curriculum, students will experience increased confidence in their abilities. Each new movement builds on the one before, enabling students to comfortably learn new techniques using fundamental skills they have mastered. Students will learn the structure and discipline of martial arts in a secure and encouraging environment. We offer Kids (ages 7-13) and Adult (ages 14+) Martial Arts classes throughout the week.
Adaptive Fitness
Our fitness classes focus more on physical development. Students will develop physique, increase their flexibility, enhance mobility, and strengthen their muscles and endurance levels. During the kids program, the students will experience a variety of obstacle courses that challenge both sides of their brain, balance, coordination, and agility, as well as a spotlight workout that will target specific areas like their reaction times and memory, etc. In the adult program, students will experience a 45-minute intense workout, involving agility drills, coordination drills, and station work outs. We offer Kids (ages 7-13) and Adult (ages 14+) Fitness classes on Saturday's.
Why We're Different
Customized Program
We strongly believe that martial arts training is good for almost everyone. This is why My Martial Arts offers classes for children and adults with physical and developmental challenges. Our classes are customized to help with the challenges children and adults with special needs face on a daily basis. The results are extremely gratifying. When one of our students masters a movement, it is a time of rejoicing for them and their family members – as well as our staff. Students not only increase their fitness levels in a fun environment, but they also develop increased self-confidence in their abilities as they learn the curriculum. We provide a safe place for your loved ones to learn and grow.
Belt-Ranking System
Just as with our mainstream martial arts classes, adaptive students have the opportunity to earn belts and compete. This provides students and their families deep satisfaction and demonstrates strongly that they are capable of expanding their horizons. Our belt-ranking system is customized to our Adaptive Students so they can progress at a comfortable, yet challenging pace. The belt-ranking system only applies to our Adaptive Martial Arts Program.
SNAPMAT
Special Needs Adaptive Program Martial Arts Tournament
In addition to our classes, we also offer a free competition setting for our Adaptive Students. Our SNAPMAT events include a variety of competition categories for children and adults living with special needs, such as most punches and kicks in 45 seconds and a timed obstacle course, to participate in where medals will be handed out accordingly! Events can be adjusted per the competitor (i.e a student with the use of a walker, etc.) These free tournaments offer a great opportunity for students and families to celebrate each other and their progress. We have an upcoming tournament in June and would love to see you there. Click below to get more information and register!
