About Us

Martial Arts Instruction in Dallas, TX

At My Martial Arts, we provide instruction for everyone.

My Martial Arts, founded in 2016 by Tony Rios, is the first facility in North Texas to provide an Adaptive Fitness/Martial Arts program to children and adults living with special needs. Our Adaptive programs have been developed to serve people who live with physical and developmental challenges and give them an opportunity to learn in a comfortable and challenging setting. This gives them the ability to earn rank and see their own progression. In addition, we offer martial arts and fitness classes to mainstream children and adults. Our classes are designed to benefit students physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Our focus is on being able to train everyone regardless of their needs.

Meet the Instructors

I’m a proud parent and advocate, fueled by a deep commitment to my son, who was diagnosed with autism in 2003. With over two decades of working within the adaptive and special needs community, I’ve witnessed the transformative power of compassion and understanding. In 2017, I embarked on a personal journey into the world of MMA, finding solace and strength within its structure and discipline. Starting my Taekwondo training in 2018, past the age of 40, I defied age stereotypes, culminating in earning my 1st-degree belt in 2022. I firmly believe that Taekwondo is for everyone, regardless of age or gender, and I’m passionate about empowering individuals to become confident, successful, and resilient through these disciplines.

At the age of 66, I embarked on a remarkable journey by taking up Taekwondo, inspired by the enthusiasm of a foreign exchange student who became like family. Even after our student returned home, I persevered, driven by a relentless passion for martial arts. For six years, I dedicated myself to the pursuit of a black belt, supported and encouraged by my grandchildren, two of whom achieved this impressive milestone themselves. Finally, after six years of unwavering commitment, I achieved my black belt. Through this journey, I’ve reaped countless benefits, including enhanced balance, flexibility, stamina, coordination, muscle memory, and an unwavering sense of self-assurance. I continue my training, eagerly sharing my knowledge with fellow students and expanding my own skills, such as mastering nunchucks. My hope is to inspire others, regardless of their age, to embrace martial arts and its transformative potential. We prove that age is no barrier; we adapt and thrive.

My martial arts journey began at the age of 5 with karate, a path that would teach me invaluable life lessons and provide endless enjoyment. My unwavering goal was to achieve a black belt, and I poured my heart and soul into earning it. On December 11th, 2021, after four and a half years of relentless effort, I proudly received my black belt. The unwavering support of my mom and my dedicated instructor, Ms. Reeve, was instrumental in my success. My martial arts experience has enriched my life, and I’m delighted to use it as an opportunity to assist others on their own journeys.
